03 — Muhurta

Muhurta Selection

Muhurta is the Jyotish practice of choosing the time for a significant action. Candidate dates are tested against the panchang and against your own chart, and each one is explained rather than simply announced.

What is examined

The framework, stated in advance.

  1. 01

    Tithi and nakshatra

The lunar day and the lunar mansion for each candidate date.

  2. 02

    Hora and lagna

The planetary hour and the rising sign at the proposed time.

  3. 03

    Your natal chart

Each window is checked against your own dasha and transits, not only the general panchang.

  4. 04

    Practical constraints

Dates are shortlisted with your real calendar, venue and family availability in mind.

Roll of aged paper with handwritten script

What you receive

  • A shortlist of candidate dates and time windows
  • A written explanation of why each was chosen, and what was avoided
  • A consultation session to settle on the final choice

What to bring

  • The event: grihapravesh, marriage, registration, launch or other
  • The earliest and latest dates you can realistically use
  • Birth details of the principal person or people involved
  • City where the event will take place

Who this is for

  • A date must be fixed and you want it chosen with reasoning, not a quick verbal answer
  • Different family members have been given different dates and you want one explained choice

A note on limits. A muhurta improves the chosen moment within your constraints. It does not guarantee how the event will unfold.

A considered question deserves a considered answer.
